I studied social work at Bath Uni. Oxfordshire reignited my passion for social work after a challenging first job somewhere else. I haven’t looked back since.

In only three years, I’ve become a senior practitioner and am now completing my practice educator qualification. Everyone focuses on you and where you want your career to head.

I’m proud to be here – and I’m not going anywhere!

I joined from Zimbabwe where I worked with children in conflict with the law. Everything was completely different, including how we work with families. But I was given time and training to adjust.

From day one, I felt supported. My caseload was protected and built up gradually. That space to learn, and a great team, has been invaluable. My managers genuinely care, not just about the work, but about me as a person. I’ve never felt alone here.

I’m assistant team manager. I didn’t have management experience when I applied for my current role, but they saw my potential and gave me the opportunity.

We have a clear way of working with families, using the family safeguarding model and work with other professionals as a team to meet their needs. That’s what makes it a special place to work.

I’m a social worker from South Africa with over 10 years of experience in child protection. I've been part of the Didcot team in Oxfordshire for four years.

The support and training here is amazing. We make things change for the better. It’s a place where I feel I've made a difference.

I know my managers have my back – even when I moved teams to develop my career, they cheered me on.

I support in the Development Centre – it’s for new and international social workers and means you get all the training you need to help you learn the Oxfordshire way.
